Tasks to complete before turning on your AC

The weather is already warming up here in Indiana, and you’ve probably been tempted to turn on your air conditioning. Some of you may have already flipped the switch to cool down your home. If so, that’s okay…it’s not too late to take a few steps toward preparing your air conditioner for the busy summer season.

Here are 3 easy tasks to complete before turning on your AC:

Clear Debris from the Outdoor Unit

The winter winds whip up all sorts of debris, which can end up clogged in your outdoor unit. Leaves, sticks, trash, and other items will hinder the performance of your cooling system, and you should take a few minutes to remove anything you see. As always, make sure the unit is not running before reaching in or around it.

Check the Air Filter

A clogged filter is a major issue. Not only will it increase the amount of dust in your home, a dirty filter can also cause your system to run poorly. If you are comfortable checking and replacing your air filter, do so before you start your system for the first time. If the filter is dirty or damaged, take the time to replace it now. If you aren’t able to perform this task yourself, we’re just a phone call away!

Call for Maintenance

This one is EXTREMELY easy! If you are part of our VIP program, then you’ve probably already been contacted to schedule your spring maintenance. If not, now is the time to call us at (317) 745-5635 to schedule with one of our technicians. We’ll examine all of the components on your air conditioning unit to make sure it’s ready for the upcoming heat.

If you tackle these 3 tasks, you’ll be all set for the summer heat.

One thing we also recommend each spring is to have your dryer vent cleaned. Over time your dryer vent becomes clogged with lint, hair, and other debris. Contact us today to schedule your dryer vent cleaning. Right now, we’re offering this service for $125.
