At Heat & Cool our goal is to keep you comfortable and help you maintain your home’s heating and cooling system. We’re happy to offer how-to advice on our blog, as well as expert service techs and reliable products to keep your home comfy. Over the years we’ve noticed some recurring questions and we thought it was time to provide you with the answers.

Here are the top 10 HVAC FAQs we hear:

1. How often should I have my HVAC system serviced?

To keep your system running properly, you should have it serviced at least once a year. Contact us any time for a tune-up and we’ll make sure you’re in tip-top shape!

2. What HVAC preventative maintenance can I do?

Although we love stopping by and giving your system a check up, we’ll never do it if the maintenance is something you can do. You should be able to tackle changing your filter each month, dusting of the inner coils periodically, and keeping your outdoor unit level. Please let us know if you do need help with these things. We’re here to help!

3. How do I find replacement parts for my HVAC system?

We recommend giving us a call for any replacement parts. We are an authorized Bryant dealer and can keep your costs down and provide you with superior parts.

4. How can I get information about financing options for a new furnace?

The easiest way is to apply online through our financing page. We offer flexible plans to fit most any budget. If you have specific questions please call us at (317) 745-5635.

5. How often should I change my furnace filter?

We recommend changing your furnace filter every thirty days for optimal performance. If you use reusable filters, plan on cleaning it at least once a month as well.

6. How does geothermal energy work?

Geothermal energy is the earth’s free energy source. Our Bryant® Geothermal Comfort Systems use heat pumps to extract heat from the earth and use it to heat your home.

7.  What should I set my thermostat on?

This question is really a matter of personal preference. According to Google, room temperature is around 70 degrees. We recommend starting there and adjusting according to your comfort level.

8. How long will my HVAC system last?

The average lifespan for a HVAC system is 12 years or so. Many last longer, but that is the average. Most of our Bryant products have at least a 10 year warranty on parts. With proper maintenance your HVAC system can easily beat the average.

9. How can I improve my indoor air quality?

Unfortunately there’s no one thing to do that will improve your indoor air quality 100%. We recommend a holistic approach, which includes a whole-house humidifier, air cleaner, and carbon monoxide alarm. Contact us anytime for more information on how to improve your indoor air quality. We have lots of advice on the subject!

10. How can I save on energy costs in my home?

We love this question because there are so many ways to save. Keeping your thermostat set on a comfortable but reasonable temperature is a good place to start. Repairing leaks in windows and doors is another way to save on energy costs. Follow the link for more detailed instructions on saving energy in the home.
